I Remember Ringwood: A 1920 Era Walking Tour Oral Narrative

Transcription Narrated by Louis P. West, 2010

This oral history was recorded circa 1973 by Russell Harding during a walking tour of Ringwood Manor, the commercial mining district owned and operated by the Ringwood Company, and the Long Pond Ironworks Area (old Hewitt). During the spring of 2010, the tapes were transcribed and published as a project of NJHHS with additional funding from the Passaic County Cultural and Heritage Council and the New Jersey Historical Commission. Mr. West’s father was the estate manager for Sarah and Eleanor Hewitt. Mr. West recalls memories of Ringwood in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.
